FAQ
Methanol is a colorless, transparent liquid that is a type of alcohol used as a raw material in a wide range of products, including plastics, synthetic resins, synthetic fibers, agricultural chemicals, pharmaceuticals, adhesives and paints.
The brand name Carbopath is a combination of the words “carbon” and “pathfinder.” It expresses MCG's determination to become a pioneer in the green methanol business and play an important role in achieving a carbon-neutral, recycling-oriented world.
No matter where you participate in the methanol value chain, from feedstocks made using renewable energy, CO₂ capture or gasification technology to methanol-based end products, you can become a driver in the global effort to achieve carbon neutrality. As an integrated methanol producer, we support all participants in the chain.
A wide range of entities can participate. If you want to make effective use of CO₂, hydrogen or waste; if you have a related technology; if you want to contribute to carbon neutrality by using green methanol; if you have a new idea for using methanol or a derivative; or if you want to make a final product, you are welcome to participate.
Using MGC's proprietary technology, methanol is synthesized from renewable energy sources, such as CO₂, waste, biomass or hydrogen.
Around 70% is used in chemicals found in everyday products, such as plastics, synthetic fibers and paints. The remaining 30% is used in fuel applications, such as a gasoline additive.
Methanol produced from CO₂, waste and biomass materials will play a key role in achieving carbon neutrality. In addition to being used as a feedstock for chemicals and materials, it is expected to become a substitute for heavy oil, such as in marine fuel, synthetic gasoline, synthetic diesel and aviation fuel.
